Broadway News 1984 Is So Intense Olivia Wilde Broke Her Tailbone The actor confesses why she wanted to do Broadway so badly, her physical commitment to her debut role, and more.

On June 15, Olivia Wilde joined host Savannah Guthrie on The Today Show.

The screen star says Broadway has always been a dream of hers. 鈥淏roadway was something I always wanted to do,鈥� said Wilde. 鈥淚 never really felt like I could call myself an actor until I had done it and now I feel like I鈥檓 earning my keep.鈥�

鈥淓arning鈥� seems to be an understatement. There have been numerous cast injuries and audience incidents. In addition to Wilde splitting her lip and breaking co-star Tom Sturridge鈥檚 nose, four audience members have fainted.

鈥淚 broke his nose, but it was in retaliation because he broke my coccyx,鈥� she said. But Wilde feels no regret for her physical commitment to the show. 鈥淲e鈥檙e doing everything necessary to tell the story right, and it鈥檚 an intense story.鈥�

鈥淗eavy times call for heavy stuff,鈥� she said. 鈥淚t involves a lot of multimedia; there鈥檚 a whole video portion鈥攕hooting video that is simulcast onto the stage. So I鈥檓 running from the stage back to a little set that has cameras on it back to the stage. There鈥檚 a lot of light and sound work. That鈥檚 really immersive. It鈥檚 a different kind of experience. It鈥檚 not just like watching a play鈥攊t鈥檚 kind of like going on a really scary ride.鈥�
