Lincoln Center鈥檚 2017 summer festival begins July 10, with a lineup that features 20 international productions and 43 performances across dance, music, theatre, and film from around the U.S. and the world.

The 22nd annual Lincoln Center Festival runs through July 30. Inspired by the social and political landscape, this year鈥檚 festival is focused on the theme of 鈥淐rossing Borders.鈥

鈥淥ne thing that has emerged as a theme this year鈥攂ecause the world has certainly changed since the 2016 Festival鈥攊s that our international festival has become about borders and specifically about crossing them,鈥 commented festival director Nigel Redden in an earlier press statement. Redden announced shortly after that the 2017 festival would be his last at the helm and that he was stepping down after almost 20 years.

The 2017 festival showcases plays from Syria and Israel, including Israeli filmmaker Amos Gital鈥檚 play about the assassination of the Israeli Prime Minister, Yitzhak Rabin: Chronicle of Assassination (July 19), Syrian playwright Mohammad Al Attar鈥檚 family drama about a man stopped at a Damascus checkpoint, While I Was Waiting (July 19鈥22), and Cameri Theatre of Tel Aviv鈥檚 sold-out production of To the End of the Land by David Grossman (July 24鈥27).

The festival鈥檚 theatre lineup also features the U.S. premiere of Opening Skinner鈥檚 Box from Britain鈥檚 Improbable Theatre. Inspired by Lauren Slater鈥檚 2004 book, the show offers an overview of the 20th century鈥檚 most famous psychological experiments. Performances begin July 10.

In the world of ballet, the Bolshoi Ballet, New York City Ballet, and Paris Opera Ballet are coming together onstage for a special 50th anniversary presentation of George Balanchine鈥檚 1967 masterpiece, Jewels. Performances will run July 20-23 in the David H. Koch Theater.
