The revue, featuring English translations of the songs by Mort Schuman and originally debuted at Off-Broadway's Village Gate in 1968, where it ran for over four years. The 2006 revival, helmed by , at the Zipper Theatre ran for over a year, with the music re-orchestrated by Eric Syejcar, whose work will be reprised here.


Andrew Keates will direct a cast that features Daniel Boys, David Burt, Eve Polycarpou and Gina Beck. This production uses the English translations of Brel’s works by and Eric Blau. The musical director is Dean Austin, with choreography by Sam Spencer Lane, design by Chris de Wilde, lighting by Mike Robertson and sound by James Nicholson.
In a press statement, Keates has commented, "Oonce the songs of Jacques Brel get into your head they stay there. Not only because of the poetry of his lyrics, but because of how they speak to any of us who have longed, loved and lost."
