Washington, D.C.鈥檚 National Theatre has rounded out its 2018鈥�2019 season with six national tours, including an upcoming engagement of Jim Steinman鈥檚 Bat Out of Hell musical.
As previously announced, the lineup begins with the world premiere of the musical adaptation of Beetlejuice, running October 14鈥揘ovember 18. Alex Timbers will direct the stage take on Tim Burton鈥檚 dark comedy, which features a score by Australian composer-comedian Eddie Perfect and a book by Anthony King and Scott Brown. The production is expected to transfer to Broadway, though no official plans have been announced.
Also on tap for the D.C. theatre are the national tours of School of Rock (January 16鈥�27, 2019), Finding Neverland (February 26鈥揗arch 3), A Bronx Tale (March 26鈥�31), and Stomp (April 23鈥�28).
Rounding out the season is Jim Steinman鈥檚 Bat Out of Hell the Musical, based on the 1977 Meat Loaf album of the same name, running May 7鈥�26. The musical, directed by Jay Scheib, premiered last year in Manchester before a London transfer (the show at the Dominion Theatre in the West End) and North American premiere in Toronto. It is expected to announce a national tour, including an October launch in Detroit, soon.
