News Benjamin Scheuer's The Lion Roars for a Final Time Off-Broadway Today; Tour to Follow The Lion, Benjamin Scheuer's acclaimed autobiographical coming-of-age musical, plays its final performance at the Lynn Redgrave Theater at Culture Project March 29 at 3 PM.

Following the limited engagement, The Lion will launch a national tour. It will play the Portland in Oregon May 2-June 14, with the national tour officially launching Aug. 22 at the Merrimack Repertory Theatre in Lowell, MA. The one-man song cycle will play the Milwaukee Repertory Theater in Wisconsin Sept. 22-Nov. 8; the Geva Theatre Center in Rochester, NY Nov. 11-22; in Washington, D.C. Feb. 26, 2016-April 3; and City Theatre Company in Pittsburgh, PA May 14-June 5.

"I am thrilled to be able to bring Benjamin's heartfelt story to cities across the country and for a national audience to hear and experience his exceptional talent as a musical storyteller," producer said in a previous statement.

The Lion opened Feb. 8 at the Lynn Redgrave Theater following previews that began Feb. 3. Sean Daniels, who helmed the earlier MTC production, again directed.

Scheuer is a 2013 ASCAP Songwriting Award winner. His work has been featured at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival (2013 Musical Theatre Network Award for Best Lyrics); The St. James Theatre, London; The Jermyn Street Theatre, London; and Lincoln Center. He leads the band Escapist Papers.
