News Broadway-Aimed Tim Rice Musical From Here to Eternity to Play in the Finger Lakes The fifth annual Finger Lakes Musical Theatre Festival has announced its line-up for 2016, and included in the slate is the Broadway-aimed From Here to Eternity, penned by Evita and The Lion King lyricist Tim Rice with Stuart Brayson and Bill Oakes. The Festival will also produce an engagement of the new musical Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice.

From Here to Eternity is based on James Jones' 1951 debut novel that is best known for the 1953 Oscar-winning film that starred , , , , and Donna Reed. The musical received a West End staging in 2013 and is aiming for Broadway, though no official announcement has been made.

According to the Auburn Citizen, the Festival's producing artistic director Brett Smock announced that the show was making a development path to Broadway. The announcement was made at the premiere of this year's presentation of Saturday Night Fever, where the the remaining season's seven shows were also revealed.

Completing the line-up will be the Rodgers and Hammerstein classic Oklahoma!; George and 's Tony-winning Crazy For You; as well as a new adaptation of 's celebrated classic Treasure Island.

As reported in the Citizen, the line-up will also include Million Dollar Quartet, a show based on recording sessions from , , and ; Tenderly: The Musical, based on the life of the singer; and Smokey Joe's Cafe.

The festival will produce an engagement of Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice, which has a score and a book by Lindsay Warren Baker and Amanda Jacobs, based on the classic Austen novel. The new work received its world premiere at earlier this year. FMTF is produced y Merry-Go-Round Playhouse in Auburn, New York.
