News Broadway Arranger Turns Wedding Reception Into Starry Benefit Concert Broadway composer and arranger Kim Scharnberg is planning a different kind of wedding to fellow musician and partner Gwynn Griffin this month. The couple is planning a reception that will double as a benefit concert, complete with a starry Broadway line-up.

All proceeds will go towards the restoration of the Norfolk Music Shed in Connecticut.

The Norfolk Chamber Music Festival's historic Music Shed is in phase two of major renovations, and in need of $250,000 to secure a million-dollar grant that will complete the process. Scharnberg and Griffin's wedding-turned-benefit-concert on Sept. 26 aims to raise all of the remaining needed funds.

The evening will feature a performance by composer () and lyricist , who collaborated together on the Broadway musicals and . Other guest performers include Broadway vet ; the Tony-winning star of Billy Elliott, ; 12-year-old tap dancing star ; singer/songwriter Edwin McCain; jazz musician Chris Brubeck and Chicago Opera star Alyson Cambridge among others.

"I've been the music director for several Presidential Galas at the Ford's Theatre in Washington, DC, so this idea is roughly patterned after those. We're going to have musical guests from several different genres performing together, guests you wouldn't normally find in the same room," commented Scharnberg in a press statement. His Broadway credits include Jekyll & Hyde, Wonderland, and .
