Set in 1945, the final year of World War II, the self-described "big-band musical" chronicles the story of a mismatched band of WWII veterans who join together to compete in a radio contest with dreams of stardom. The show has music by Cirque du Soleil鈥檚 Richard Oberacker and book and lyrics by Robert Taylor and Oberacker.
The Bandstand will be produced on Broadway by Tom Smedes, Gabrielle Palitz, Terry Schnuck and Tom Kirdahy. The Broadway version will bring along the entire Paper Mill design team: scenic design by , costume design by , lighting design by Jeff Croiter, sound design by and casting by .
