Elliot Martin

Broadway theatres will dim their marquees in honor of the late Elliot Martin, a prolific theatre producer and stage manager who died May 21 at age 93. Marquees will go dark Friday, June 2 at 7:45 PM for one minute.

Martin earned Tony nominations for producing A Touch of the Poet, Angels Fall, American Buffalo, Glengarry Glen Ross, Joe Turner鈥檚 Come and Gone, The Circle, Shadowlands, She Loves Me, and, most recently, the 2000 revival of A Moon for the Misbegotten. That revival was the second of three Martin produced on Broadway; the most recent was in 2007, and in 1974, he received a Special Tony Award for his work on the 1973 revival.

鈥淔or 70 years Elliot Martin brought entertaining, relevant, and powerful stories to the Broadway stage including memorable productions that are now considered classics,鈥 Broadway League President Charlotte St. Martin said in a statement. 鈥淗is credits as an actor, stage manager and producer include almost 50 productions which clearly show how dedicated he was to the industry and how important his contribution was to theatre. He will be greatly missed. Our thoughts are with his family, friends and colleagues.鈥
