Primary Stages has revealed the cast and creative team for its upcoming production of Chisa Hutchinson's Amerikin. Performances will run March 1-April 13, at 59E59's Theater A with an official opening March 18.
The cast will include Daniel Abeles (Revolt. She Said. Revolt Again.), Molly Carden (Emotional Creature), Luke Robertson (Fairview), Tobias Segal (The Miracle Worker), Andrea Syglowski (DIG), Amber Reauchean Williams (Candida), and Victor Williams (A Midsummer Night鈥檚 Dream). Casting is by The Telsey Office's Karyn Casl.
Amerikin follows a father in small-town Maryland who resolves to give his newborn son every possible advantage鈥攂y joining a local white supremacist group. When his attempt to join is thwarted by some surprising ancestry test results, the line between 鈥渦s鈥� and 鈥渢hem鈥� grows increasingly blurry.
The production will feature scenic design by Christopher Swader and Justin Swader (DIG), costume design by Jen Caprio (The Heart of Rock and Roll), lighting design by Carolina Ortiz (Good Night, Oscar), original music and sound design by Lindsay Jones (Slave Play), and props supervision by Patricia Marjorie (Public Obscenities). Intimacy and fight direction is by Crista Marie Jackson (Between Riverside and Crazy), Deborah Hecht (The Great Gatsby) is the dialect and voice coach, and Brillian Qi-Bell (Bees & Honey) serves as production stage manager.
Amerikin is part of 59E59's AMPLIFY Festival, which is celebrating Hutchinson's work. Primary Stages is currently in residency at 59E59 Theaters.
