From Here to Eternity is based on James Jones' 1951 debut novel that is best known for the 1953 Oscar-winning film that starred , , , , and Donna Reed. The musical received a West End staging in 2013 and is aiming for Broadway, though no official announcement has been made. Finger Lakes dates are June 29-July 20, 2016.
According to the Auburn Citizen, the Festival's producing artistic director Brett Smock announced that the show was making a development path to Broadway. The announcement was made at the July 22 premiere of this year's presentation of Saturday Night Fever.
Completing the line-up will be the Rodgers and Hammerstein classic Oklahoma! (June 1-22); George and 's Tony-winning Crazy For You; (July 27 - Aug. 17); as well as a new adaptation of 's celebrated classic Treasure Island (Aug. 24 - Sept. 10).
The line-up will also include Million Dollar Quartet (Sept. 15 鈥� Oct. 1), a show based on recording sessions from , , and ; Tenderly: The Musical (Oct. 5-19), based on the life of the singer; and Smokey Joe's Cafe (Dec. 6-21).
The festival will produce an engagement of Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice (July 13-24), which has a score and a book by Lindsay Warren Baker and Amanda Jacobs, based on the classic Austen novel.
