Club44 Records will release Jim Caruso鈥檚 The Swing Set: Deluxe Edition, the baritone鈥檚 exploration of the Great American Songbook, April 18 in streaming and digital formats. The re-release will feature two new tracks.
The album鈥檚 first single鈥攖he newly recorded 鈥淎valon,鈥� featuring the vocals of Caruso, Jane Monheit, and Billy Stritch鈥攚ill be released April 4. To pre-save the single, Also new is Caruso's rendition of the breakup song 鈥淥ne More Minute,鈥� Weird Al Yankovic鈥檚 longtime crowd favorite.
On the remastered The Swing Set, Caruso interprets such tunes as 鈥淚f I Only Had a Brain,鈥� 鈥淢anhattan,鈥� 鈥淧ick Yourself Up,鈥� 鈥淔lexible,鈥� 鈥淭he Doodlin鈥� Song,鈥� and 鈥淚 Love a Violin.鈥� Musical guests include Michael Feinstein, late guitarist Bucky Pizzarelli, violinist Aaron Weinstein, Stritch, Monheit, and Tony winner Stephanie J. Block.
To celebrate the album, Jim Caruso鈥檚 Cast Party鈥攈is popular open mic night鈥攚ill be offered at Catalina Jazz Club in Los Angeles May 28; The McCallum Theatre in Palm Desert, California, May 29; with upcoming stops at London鈥檚 Crazy Coqs in September and Las Vegas鈥� The Smith Center in October.
Cast Party also continues its 20+ year run at New York鈥檚 Birdland Jazz Club every Monday night.
