Having enjoyed a nearly $1 billion box office take with a part-live/part-CGI adaptation of its animated film musical The Jungle Book and having recently announced similar adaptations of and , Disney has put yet another of its 1990s hits in the live-remake pipeline: Aladdin, according to a report on .
The trade magazine reports that Guy Ritchie (Sherlock Holmes) is in talks to direct the film with a new script being provided by John August (Big Fish).
No timetable for the remake's shooting premiere was reported, nor was word on how much if any of the current live-action Broadway version of Aladdin would be incorporated.
Among Disney films with lots of Broadway talent and firm dates on the horizon: on March 17, 2017 and on December 25, 2018.
