Casting is complete for the previously announced European premiere of Tony winner Matthew L贸pez鈥檚 play about loneliness and longing, Reverberation.

Directed by Jack Sain, performances will begin October 2 at the Bristol Old Vic prior to an official opening October 8 for a limited engagement through November 2.

The cast will feature Eleanor Tomlinson (One Day, Poldark, The Illusionist) as Claire, Michael Ahomka-Lindsay (Choir Boy, Cabaret, Newsies) as Jonathan, and recent Mountview Academy graduate Jack Gibson as Wes.

L贸pez wrote Reverberation three years prior to The Inheritance, which premiered at the Young Vic in 2018, before transferring to the West End and subsequently Broadway. Reverberation was originally staged at Connecticut's Hartford Stage in 2015. Reshaped by L贸pez, this new production transposes the action across the Atlantic to London.

The play follows Jonathan, who has withdrawn from the world after a personal tragedy. When the enigmatic Claire moves into the flat upstairs, she tries to coax him out of his shell. They form a connection, but the past eventually reverberates into the present, threatening the happiness they鈥檝e found.

Director Sain, who will be making his Bristol Old Vic debut, said in an earlier statement, "Reverberation is a unique piece of writing: at times tender, at others visceral; at times hilarious, at others disconcerting. It is a play about lost souls finding each other in the dark, about loneliness and longing, comfort and denial. I鈥檓 grateful to Matthew for entrusting us with it, for shaping it for a new era, and for this beautiful theatre. We look forward to鈥痵howing you what we have in store.鈥�

The upcoming production will also have design by Ti Green, sound design and music by Nicola T Chang, lighting design by Robbie Butler, video design by Daniel Denton, intimacy coordination by Robbie Taylor Hunt, movement direction by Jade Hackett, costume supervision by Anna Dixon, and casting by Matilda James.
