Ewan McGregor (Trainspotting, Moulin Rouge!, Star Wars, Halston) returns to the London stage for the first time in nearly two decades beginning April 17 in Lila Raicek's My Master Builder.

Opening night at Wyndham's Theatre is set for April 29 with performances continuing in the West End through July 12. Michael Grandage is directing, with his Michael Grandage Company co-producing with MarketStall and Seaview.

Joining McGregor in the company are Elizabeth Debicki (The Red Barn, The Crown) as Mathilde, Kate Fleetwood (London Road, Macbeth) as Elena, David Ajala (One Night in Miami, Dream Team) as Ragnar, and Mirren Mack (Grapes of Wrath, Hedda) as Kaja.

My Master Builder reunites McGregor and Grandage following their earlier collaborations on Othello and Guys and Dolls, both for the Donmar, where Grandage was artistic director.

Inspired by Ibsen, My Master Builder is set on July 4 in the Hamptons as Elena Solness, a publishing magnate, is preparing to throw a party to celebrate her architect husband, Henry Solness (McGregor), as he unveils his latest masterpiece. Their vulnerable union is shattered by the unexpected arrival of Mathilde, a former student of Henry鈥檚, with whom he shared an intimate connection.

In an earlier statement McGregor said, 鈥淚t鈥檚 such a thrill to be returning to the stage鈥攁nd to work with Michael again, an actor鈥檚 director with whom I have had some of my happiest working experiences. He鈥檚 a generous collaborator, who enables you to discover the play together afresh in the rehearsal room. And what a play鈥擨 love where Lila has taken the story, a very modern take on today's sexual politics.鈥

The production also has set and costume design by Richard Kent, lighting design by Paule Constable, sound design and music by composer Adam Cork, casting by Sophie Holland, associate direction by Bethany West, production management by Kate West, costume supervision by Lisa Aitken, props supervision by Kate Margretts, and general management by Fiona Steed.
