Theatre kids, they're everywhere!
Holly-Anne Hull, who previously played Christine in The Phantom of the Opera in London's West End, will represent the U.K. in the 2025 Eurovision Song Contest.
Hull will perform alongside Charlotte Steele and Lauren Byrne in a trio called Remember Monday. Their song, "What the Hell Just Happened?," is a country-pop comedy anthem to the morning after a one-night-stand.
as "a breathless pop pastiche of imperial period Queen with a dash of Elton John singing country with the Andrews Sisters", the track marks the first time a girl group has represented the U.K. in the contest since 1999. Released to the public on March 7, a fully produced music video of the track can be viewed below.
Hull played Christine in The Phantom of the Opera for three years, playing her final performance July 29, 2023. Her other theatre credits include Stephen Sondheim鈥檚 Old Friends Gala, Les Mis茅rables, Loserville, Copacabana, and Robin Hood. While she still performs in theatrical concerts on occasion, she left The Phantom of the Opera to focus on Remember Monday in 2023, and the majority of her focus has been on the band since then.
This isn't the first time The Phantom of the Opera has been connected to the Eurovision Song Contest! In 2009, composer Andrew Lloyd Webber penned "It's My Time" alongside Diane Warren for the contest. Performed by Jade Ewen, the entry came fifth in the contest.
The 2025 Eurovision Song Contest will take place at St. Jakobshalle in Basel, Switzerland, and will consist of two semi-finals to be held on May 13 and 16, with the final taking place on May 17. As a member of the "Big Five," the United Kingdom, and therefore "What the Hell Just Happened?," automatically qualifies for the grand final.
