The world premiere of Guadal铆s Del Carmen' Bees & Honey, presented in collaboration with The Sol Project, is underway at MCC Theater鈥檚 Susan & Ronald Frankel Theater, with opening night set for May 22. Inspired by Juan Luis Guerra鈥檚 song "Como Abeja Al Panal," Bees & Honey is a modern love story set in Washington Heights. Maribel Martinez star as Johaira and Xavier Pacheco as Manuel in the two-hander about a young married couple entering a new phase of their lives.
Melissa Crespo directs, leading a creative team that includes set designer Shoko Kambara (Little Girl Blue: The Nina Simone Musical), costume designer Devario D. Simmons (Thoughts of a Colored Man), lighting designer Reza Behjat (English), and sound designer Germ谩n Mart铆nez (soft) with original music by Dilson (鈥淭he Bachat煤 EP鈥�). Teniece Divya Johnson(Public Obscenities) is the intimacy and fight director. Lori Ann Zepp is the production stage manager. Casting is by Destiny Lilly of The Telsey Office.
