Tony nominee Harry聽Connick,聽Jr., seen on Broadway in the revivals of The Pajama Game and On a Clear Day You Can See Forever, will return to the Great White Way in December in Harry Connick, Jr.鈥擜 Celebration of Cole Porter.
Prior to playing Broadway's Nederlander Theatre (currently home to Pretty Woman), the show will have its world premiere at the Durham Performing Arts Center in North Carolina September 21鈥�22. Tickets go on sale to the general public August 1. A national tour will follow the Broadway engagement.
The production is conceived and directed by聽Connick, Jr.聽with sets by聽Tony winner Beowulf Boritt聽and聽Alexis Distler, projection design by Boritt聽and聽Caite Hevner,聽and lighting design by聽Tony winner Ken Billington. Ticket information will be announced at a later date.
鈥淚 am beyond excited to be returning to the stage to share my interpretation of the work of a true American genius,鈥� said Grammy winner Connick in a statement. The artist, who also wrote the score for Broadway鈥檚 Thou Shalt Not and recently appeared in the world premiere of the musical The Sting, will release his first album for Verve Records, True Love: A Celebration of Cole Porter, in October.
