Tony Awards 'I'm in Tech': Designer Beowulf Boritt May Be Tired, But He's Very Glad He's Won a Tony Award

The designer won the 2023 Tony for Best Scenic Design of a Musical for New York, New York.

At the Tony Awards, after the statues are given to the winners, they are taken to the media room, where they speak to journalists about their prizes. 半岛体育 was able to have some one-on-one time with some of the 2023 Tony winners. We spoke with Beowulf Boritt after winning the prize for Best Scenic Design of a Musical for his breathtaking work on the Tony-nominated new musical New York, New York.

Watch the video above to see Boritt react to winning, including why he's feeling tired right now (it's because he's in tech for Hamlet at Shakespeare in the Park). For Boritt, the reward is the work and "getting a Tony is an awfully nice cherry on top." Boritt mentioned his 1/52 Project in his Tonys acceptance speech; he told us more about why he founded the project and the importance of bringing up the next generation of designers.
