The York Theatre Company's production of How to Steal an Election: A Dirty Politics Musical, the first of its 2023 Musicals in Mufti offerings, begins August 26.
Directed by York Associate Producing Director Joseph Hayward with music direction by Miles Plant and choreography by Victoria Casillo, performances are scheduled through September 3 at The Theater at St. Jean鈥檚.
The company is led by Jason Graae (驰辞谤办鈥檚 The Grand Tour) as Calvin Coolidge, Emma Degerstedt (驰辞谤办鈥檚 Desperate Measures) as April, and Alex Joseph Grayson (Parade) as Jerry with Courtney Arango (West Side Story at Milwaukee Rep), Kelly Berman (Gypsy at Goodspeed), and Drew Tanabe (驰辞谤办鈥檚 Stardust Road). Neal Mayer (York's Mark Felt Superstar) understudies Graae and will perform the role of Calvin Coolidge for
two performances: August 30鈥�31.

The 1968 musical How to Steal an Election, with music and lyrics by Oscar Brand and a book by William F. Brown (The Wiz), concerns President Calvin Coolidge, who materializes in the present day (1968) and meets a
couple of fervent young protesters just back from the Democratic National Convention in Chicago.
The production also has lighting design by Ken Billington and projections/sound design by Peter Brucker.
The production stage manager is Claudia Zahn, the assistant stage
manager is Meg Meschino, the associate director is Angela Di Toro, and the
dramaturg is Tess Nunan.
Casting is by Michael Cassara.
The Musicals in Mufti series is performed in a simply staged, book-in-hand concert format. Mufti means 鈥渋n street clothes, without the trappings of a full production.鈥�
