Jeff Harnar's new album, Jeff Harnar Sings Sammy Cahn: The Second Time Around, will be released July 26 via PS Classics. The album is a remixed, reimagined, and expanded version of Harnar's 2001 Sammy Cahn album, and features guest vocals from Grammy nominee Clint Holmes, vocal trio MOIPEI, and Grammy winner Nicole Zuraitis.
Harnar will celebrate the album release with two concerts at 54 Below, held July 26 and 27. MOIPEI, Sally Mayes, and Eric Comstock will appear at the July 26 concert, while Holmes, MOIPEI, and Zuraitis will appear July 27.
"Jeff came to us in 2021 with a proposal for three albums: two new recordings and a reissue of a CD long out of print," Tommy Krasker, co-founder of PS Classics, said in a statement. "Having released 2022鈥檚 I Know Things Now: My Life in Sondheim鈥檚 Words and Jeff鈥檚 Cy Coleman songbook, A Collective Cy, in 2023, we turned our attention to the reissue, his 2001 tribute to the great Sammy Cahn. But the more we looked at the album, the clearer it became that what was needed was more than a simple re-release. The passage of time meant that Jeff related to the material differently now鈥攁s an artist and interpreter, but also an individual; there were things he wanted to say鈥攚ays of expressing himself鈥攖hat could only be accomplished by going back into the studio....When we gathered in the studio to record鈥攁rmed with charts created especially for this album by Jeff鈥檚 longtime music director, Alex Rybeck鈥攖he joy in the room was palpable...We hope you鈥檒l feel that joy of rediscovery as well.鈥�
