News John Rando and Martha Clarke Honored With Joe A. Callaway Awards John Rando's direction of The Heir Apparent and Martha Clarke's direction of the tragic dance piece 颁丑茅谤颈 have been selected as winners of the Joe A. Callaway Awards for Direction and Choreography.

The only awards given by professional directors and choreographers to their peers for work on a specific production, they will be presented by the The Stage Directors and Choreographers Foundation (SDCF) Nov. 3 in New York City, alongside the Fichandler Award, which recognizes a regional director changing the landscape of their community.

Rando and Clarke were selected from more than 200 eligible productions in the 2013-14 New York City theatre season.

The Callaway Award Selection Committee, composed of current longstanding SDC Members, also selected finalists. Finalists for direction include Jo Bonney for Small Engine Repair, produced by , in association with Jon Bernthal, Eric Bernthal, and Story Factory, LLC; for Satchmo at the Waldorf, produced by , Shakespeare & Company, Scott & Roxanne Bok, Roz & Jerry Meyer, Ronald Guttman, Shadowcatcher Entertainment, John LaMattina, , S.D. Wagner, and ; for The City of Conversation, produced by at the Mitzi E. Newhouse; for Fetch Clay, Make Man, produced by ; and for Hand to God, produced by MCC Theater.

Finalists for choreography comprise for Tamar of the River, produced by Prospect Theater Company; for Piece of My Heart: The Bert Berns Story, produced by Merged Work Productions; for Inventing , produced by the ; and Shea Sullivan for Pageant, produced by SAS Productions, Kitty Potapow, Drew Desky, Michelle R. Rogers, and ABS Productions.
