Initial casting has been announced for the Muny production of Les 惭颈蝉茅谤补产濒别蝉, which will open the theatre鈥檚 106th season, running June 17-23 on the James S. McDonnell Stage in Forest Park, Missouri.
Directed by Seth Sklar-Heyn, the cast will be led by John Riddle as Jean Valjean, Jordan Donica as Javert, Teal
Wicks as Fantine, Red Concepci贸n as Th茅nardier, Jade Jones as Madame Th茅nardier, Ken Page as The Bishop of Digne, Emily Bautista as 脡ponine, Gracie
Annabelle Parker as Cosette, Peter Neureuther as Marius, and James D. Gish as Enjolras. Additional casting will be announced at a later date.
Les 惭颈蝉茅谤补产濒别蝉, previously produced at The Muny in 2007 and 2013, is based on the Victor Hugo novel and penned by Claude-Michel Sch枚nberg, Alain Boublil, and Herbert Kretzmer. The original New York production premiered at the Broadway Theatre March 12, 1987, and later moved to the Imperial October 17, 1990, where it played until May 18, 2003, for a total Broadway run of 11 previews and 6,680 regular performances. The musical was nominated for 11 Tony Awards, winning eight, including Best Musical.
The Tony-winning score includes "I Dreamed a Dream," "On My Own," "Stars," "Bring Him Home," "Do You Hear the People Sing?," "One Day More," "Empty Chairs at Empty Tables," "Master of the House," and more.
The upcoming production will also have choreography by Jesse Robb and music direction by James Moore. The Telsey Office is the casting partner of The Muny.
The Muny artistic staff includes Artistic Director and Executive Producer Mike Isaacson and Associate Artistic Director Michael Baxter. The production manager is Tracy Utzmyers, and the music supervisor is Michael Horsley.
The 2024 summer season at The Muny also includes Dreamgirls (June 27-July 3), Disney鈥檚 The Little Mermaid (July 8-16), Fiddler on the Roof (July 19-25), Waitress (July 30-August 5), In the Heights (August 9-15) and Anything Goes (August 19-25).
