Also slated to perform at the gala are reading an excerpt from Choderlos de Laclos鈥檚 "Dangerous Liaisons," reading , reading from the journals of William Maclay, one of the members of the first U.S. Senate under the then new constitution; , reading two of Benjamin Franklin鈥檚 letters; and Julia Bullock singing Mozart.

The evening, which will be emceed by 's artistic director and will take place at Gotham Hall, will celebrate Lapham鈥檚 Quarterly鈥檚 eighth year of publication. The Benefit Committee includes such artists and patrons as , Jackie and Nick Drexel, Barbara Fleischman and Deborah Landesman.
Lapham鈥檚 Quarterly is an acclaimed literary magazine and journal of history and ideas established in 2007 by editor emeritus of Harper's Magazine, Lewis Lapham. As well as being the publication's founder, editor and publisher, he is the author of 13 books and creator of the documentary film "The American Ruling Class". The gala will also celebrate his 80th birthday.
