Regional News Kennedy Center's Broadway Center Stage Series to Offer Bye Bye Birdie, Nine, and Tick, Tick...BOOM!

The D.C. venue has released its full 2023-2024 season, which also includes stops from national tours of Company, Funny Girl, Back to the Future, and more.

Washington D.C.'s Kennedy Center has revealed its full 2023-2024 theatre season, which will include new stagings of tick, tick...BOOM!Bye Bye Birdie; and Nine as part of the fifth annual Broadway Center Stage series.

The series sees brand-new productions of audience favorite musicals on the Kennedy Center's Eisenhower Theater stage, often with all-star casts. This year's offerings were Guys and Dolls starring James Monroe Iglehart, Jessie Mueller, Steven Pasquale, Phillipa Soo, and Rachel Dratch; Sunset Boulevard starring Stephanie J. Block; and the upcoming Monty Python's Spamalot, set to play May 12-21 starring Alex Brightman, James Monroe Iglehart, Leslie Kritzer, and Rob McClure.

Tick, tick...BOOM!, with a book, music, and lyrics by Jonathan Larson (Rent), will kick off the upcoming season, running October 6-15, followed by Charles Strouse, Lee Adams, and Michael Stewart's Bye Bye Birdie January 26-February 4, 2024. Maury Yeston and Arthur Kopit's Nine will close out the series June 7-16, 2024. Casting for all three titles is to be announced.

Separate from the Broadway Center Stage series, a Sting jukebox dance-theatre show from Kate Prince, Message in a Bottle, will play the Opera House April 9-21, 2024. For family audiences, the Kennedy Center has planned Bluey's Big Play for November 22-26 in the Eisenhower Theater, and Dixie's Tupperware Party for May 7-June 2, 2024, in the Family Theater.

The Center's theatre season also includes engagements of several national tours. Girl From the North Country will play the Eisenhower December 12-31, while Disney's Frozen will take the Opera House stage December 20-January 21, 2024, followed by Ain't Too Proud鈥擳he Life and Times of the Temptations February 13-18, Company March 12-31, The Illusionists April 23-28, Funny Girl June 25-July 14, Back to the Future July 23-August 11, and Mamma Mia! August 13-September 1. Back in the Eisenhower, The Kite Runner will take the stage June 25-30.
