Stephen DeRosa hosts the evening, which begins at 6:30 PM and features cocktails, silent auction, dinner, entertainment and award ceremony.
Performers include Tony nominee and Emmy winner Liz Callaway (Merrily We Roll Along, Baby, Miss Saigon, Cats, The Three Musketeers, The Look of Love) and Stephen DeRosa (On the Town, Into the Woods, Betrayal, Hairspray, The Nance, Twentieth Century, The Man Who Came to Dinner).
Among others scheduled to attend are Rufus Collins, Patricia Conolly, John Glover, Edward Hibbert, Dana Ivey, Edgar Lansbury, Dakin Matthews, Jack O鈥橞rien, Angela Pierce, Mary Lou Rosato, Bobby Steggert and Karen Ziemba.
Lamos will be presented with The Acting Company鈥檚 John Houseman Award by Richard Thomas. The award honors Lamos鈥� 鈥減rofound commitment to the development of actors and arts education in America. He has helped to shape the careers of some of the finest classical actors in recent generations, with numerous alumni of The Acting Company among them,鈥� according to press notes.
Collins will receive The Acting Company鈥檚 Joan M. Warburg Humanitarian Award for his 鈥渄eep and longstanding dedication to giving back to the community, from supporting the arts and education, to helping raise funds for innovations in health care and new protections for the environment.鈥� The award will be presented by former New Jersey Governor Thomas Kean.
鈥淭his year鈥檚 award recipients, Barclay Collins and Mark Lamos, truly embody the spirit, commitment and dedication of John Houseman and Joan Warburg鈥檚 contributions to The Acting Company and the theatrical world,鈥� executive director Elisa Spencer-Kaplan said in an earlier statement.
Now artistic director of the Westport Country Playhouse, Lamos has directed innumerable plays, musicals and opera in regional theatre and on Broadway. As artistic director of Connecticut鈥檚 Hartford Stage, it won a Tony Award for Outstanding Regional Theatre.
Collins, a long-time executive in the energy business, has served on the board of The Acting Company for nine years. He is former executive vice president and general counsel of Hess Corporation, the New York-based global energy company.
Founded in 1972 by Oscar winner John Houseman and producer Margot Harley, The Acting Company brings 鈥渓ive classical theatre to those who might otherwise never get a chance to enjoy and learn from it.
