Tony winner Mandy Patinkin will portray powerful Chicago crime boss Anthony Accardo in the new JFK assassination thriller November 1963.
, Patinkin has joined the heavy-hitting cast, which will also include two-time Oscar nominee John Travolta (Pulp Fiction) and SAG nominee Dermot Mulroney (August Osage County). Written by two-time Oscar nominee Roland Joff茅 (The Killing Fields), November 1963 will recount the 48-hour period surrounding the assassination of President John F. Kennedy.
The film purports to examine the Chicago Outfit鈥檚 alleged involvement in the assassination and draws directly from first-hand accounts, including insights from the family of crime boss Sam Giancana. The Chicago Outfit (also known as the Outfit, the Chicago Mafia, the Chicago Mob, and the Organization) is an Italian-American crime family based in Chicago, Illinois, which originated in the city's South Side in 1910. Originally controlled by Johnny Torrio and Al Capone, the Outfit was once one of the largest and most powerful mafia organizations in the United States. Although its size has dwindled significantly, it continues to be one of the most active organized crime groups in the Chicago area.
Travolta will star as Johnny Roselli, the Outfit鈥檚 point person on the West Coast and in Las Vegas. Patinkin will portray Anthony Accardo, the day-to-day head of the Outfit, who became one of the most powerful crime bosses in American history. Mulroney will play Chuckie Nicoletti, who was Outfit boss Sam Giancana鈥檚 bodyguard and the Outfit鈥檚 most notorious hitman. Additional casting will be announced at a later date.
Nicki Celozzi, the nephew of Giancana, has written the script and is producing the film. Bonnie Giancana, Giancana's daughter, is also attached as an executive producer.
