The New Group's New York premiere of Jessica Goldberg鈥檚 Babe officially opens November 20 following previews that began October 29 Off-Broadway at The Pershing Square Signature Center's Alice Griffin Jewel Box Theater.
The cast is led by Oscar winner Marisa Tomei (My Cousin Vinny, The Realistic Joneses, Top Girls), Arliss Howard (The Monogamist, A Map of the World, Joe Turner's Come and Gone), and Gracie McGraw (The Death of Desert Rose and Murder at The Gates workshops). Scott Elliott is directing the production, also featuring original music by BETTY.
Babe follows record producers Abby (Tomei) and Gus (Howard),
whose work marriage is legendary. But when Katherine (McGraw), a fresh
A&R hire, calls Abby out on the compromises she鈥檚 made in her work,
Abby must face the music and fight to survive.
The production also has scenic design by Derek McLane,
costume design by Jeff Mahshie, lighting design by Cha See, sound
design by Jessica Paz, production supervision by Five Ohm, and casting
by Judy Henderson.
The production stage manager is Valerie A. Peterson. Performances continue through December 22.
A free post-show talkback with BETTY that will also include live music will follow the 7 PM performance December 3.
