Industry News Michael Greif to Be Honored at New Dramatists' Annual Spring Luncheon

The inaugural Konecky Award will be presented to Concord Theatricals.

Tony nominee Michael Greif will be honored by playwright development laboratory New Dramatists at the organization's Annual Spring Luncheon May 14 at the Marriott Marquis.

Greif has directed three new musicals this season: Days of Wine and Roses, The Notebook (co-directed with Schele Williams), and Hell's Kitchen. The four-time Tony nominee has also been at the helm of Dear Evan HansenWar PaintRent, Grey Gardens, Next to NormalNever Gonna Dance, and If/Then

鈥淔rom Downtown to Broadway, and in theatres across the country, Michael Greif has built his outstanding career championing and directing new plays and musicals by legendary writers, including New Dramatists鈥� alumni Doug Wright, John Guare, Suzan-Lori Parks, Diana Son, Nilo Cruz, Jeffrey Hatcher, Jeffrey M. Jones, Kate Moira Ryan, and Kristoffer Diaz, this season on Hell鈥檚 Kitchen,鈥� says Emily Morse, the artistic director of New Dramatists, in a statement. 鈥淲ith his remarkable resume, and three shows opening on Broadway, this feels like the perfect year for New Dramatists to honor Michael and his distinguished career, at our Annual Spring Luncheon.鈥�

This year's luncheon will also feature a new award. The Konecky Award, named for New Dramatists Board President Isobel Konecky and her husband, entertainment attorney Ron Konecky, recognizes those in the theatre and entertainment industry who have served the field with passion, dedication, excellence, and leadership. 

The inaugural Konecky Award will be presented to Concord Theatricals.

Tony-winning producers Kevin McCollum and Stacey Mindich will serve as honorary co-chairs for this year鈥檚 luncheon.
