Paper Mill Playhouse's production of the new musical Mystic Pizza, based on the film of the same name, begins previews January 29 prior to an official opening February 2.
Directed by Casey Hushion (Mean Girls), the limited
engagement will continue through February 23 at the New Jersey venue.

Michael Haynie (Wicked) as Bill Montijo, Vincent Michael as Charles 鈥淐harlie鈥� Gordon Windsor, Jr. and others, Jennifer Fouch茅 (Chicago) as Leona Silvia, Mia Gerachis (Sweeney Todd) as Debbie and others, James Hindman (Mary Poppins) as Charles Windsor, Sr. and others, Michael James as Lou and others, April Josephine (Mean Girls) as Mrs. Arujo and others, Alyssa M. Simmons as Aunt Bonnie and others, Louis Pardo as Mr. Barboza and others, Jake Swain (Mean Girls) as Frank and others, Zephaniah Wages as George and others, and Rachel Kae Wirtz as Lorna and others. Chachi Delgado and Adriana Negron are the swings.
Based on the 1988 MGM film with story and characters by Amy Holden Jones, Mystic Pizza has a book by Sandy Rustin (The Cottage), music supervision, arrangements, and orchestrations by Carmel Dean (The Notebook), music direction by Kristin Stowell (The Cher Show national tour), and choreography by Connor Gallagher.
The new musical follows three working-class young women who navigate the complexities of life, love, and family in a small-town pizza joint. The score includes hits of the '80s and '90s, including 鈥淕irls Just Want to Have Fun,鈥� 鈥淣othing鈥檚 Gonna Stop Us Now,鈥� and more.
The production also features scenic design by Nate Bertone, costume design by Jen Caprio, lighting design by Ryan J. O鈥橤ara, sound design by Matt Kraus, and hair and wig design by Roxanne De Luna. Casting is by Geoff Josselson Casting.
