News Nathan Lane Honored With O'Neill Theater Center's Monte Cristo Award Tony Award-winning actor Nathan Lane, who returns to the New York stage in Eugene O'Neill's The Iceman Cometh this winter, will be honored with the O'Neill Theater Center's 15th annual Monte Cristo Award.

Lane is being celebrated "in recognition of his outstanding achievements and contributions to the American theatre." A gala honoring the actor will take place April 13 at the Edison Ballroom in Manhattan.

Lane recently appeared in the Broadway production of 's hit comedy . He will co-star with in the production of The Iceman Cometh, which arrives at the Feb. 5.

His numerous stage credits include , , The Lisbon Traviata, , , November, , , , Love! Valour! Compassion!, , On Borrowed Time, and . He is a two-time Emmy Award winner and currently appears on "The Good Wife."

"Nathan is a theater artist in the truest sense, and a champion of the work of Eugene O'Neill. I look forward to his portrayal of Hickey in The Iceman Cometh, an iconic role in the canon, this spring in New York, and I am honored to celebrate his tremendous body of work and contributions to the American theater with the O鈥橬eill鈥檚 Monte Cristo Award," O'Neill executive director Preston Whiteway said in a statement.

The Monte Cristo Award is presented to a prominent theatre artist each year in recognition of a distinguished career exemplifying O'Neill's "pioneering spirit, unceasing artistic commitment, and excellence."
