A new revival of Oedipus opened at London's The Old Vic February 4 after beginning previews January 21, and critics are sounding off. Find out what the reviews had to say below.
Academy Award winner Rami Malek (Bohemian Rhapsody) and Olivier winner Indira Varma (Present Laughter) lead the cast, with Matthew Warchus and Hofesh Shechter co-directing. The run continues through March 29. The revival, which features a new adaptation of the Sophocles tragedy by Ella Hickson, is being presented by The Old Vic in association with Hofesh Shechter Company.
The cast also includes Nicholas Khan as Creon, Joseph Mydell as Corinthian, Cecilia Noble as Tiresias, and Nicholas Woodeson as Shepherd, plus a dance company featuring the Hofesh Shechter Company's Justine Gouache, Charles Heinrich, Kenny Wing Tao Ho, Adam Khazhmuradov, Kim Kohlmann, Oscar Jinghu Li, Yen-Ching Lin, Rachelle Scott, Jian-Hui Wang, and Zee Zunnur. Casting is by Jim Carnahan. Children's casting is by Saffeya Shebli.

The classic tale follows King Oedipus, tasked by his subjects to avenge the murder of the old King Laius in hopes that it will fulfill an oracle's prophecy.
The production also features choreography and music by Shechter, scenic and costume design by Rae Smith, lighting design by Tom Visser, and sound design by Chris Shutt.
