John Patrick Shanley's newest play Brooklyn Laundry officially opened its Off-Broadway world premiere February 28, and the reviews are in. The Manhattan Theatre Club production began previews February 6 at New York City Center's Stage I, with performances set to continue through April 14. Shanley is directing.

SNL and Schmigadoon! alum Cecily Strong stars as Fran, opposite David Zayas (Cost of Living) as Owen, Florencia Lozano (One Life to Live) as Trish, and Andrea Syglowski (Pass Over) as Susie. Understudies Janie Brookshire, Adriana DeMeo, and Alfredo Diaz round out the company. Casting is by Kelly Gillespie of Caparelliotis Casting.

The work centers on three sisters and a guy who run a Brooklyn laundry, and the "savage tricks life plays on them," according to press notes. The world premiere features scenic design by Santo Loquasto, costume design by Suzy Benzinger, lighting design by Brian MacDevitt, and original music and sound design by John Gromada.
