The Mint Theater Company鈥檚 first-ever New York revival of N.C. Hunter鈥檚 A Day by the Sea, directed by Austin Pendleton, officially opens Off-Broadway August 25. The Chekhovian-like drama, which was a hit on the West End when it debuted in 1953, began performances July 22.

The play is billed by the Mint as a 鈥渨arm, human and often humorous depiction of the 鈥榗risis鈥� of middle age.鈥� It follows the inhabitants of a seaside resort in Dorset, England, as they struggle with the futility of life. Performances take place at The Beckett Theater at Theatre Row.

The cast features Julian Elfer, Katie Firth, Philip Goodwin, Sean Gormley, Polly McKie, Kylie McVey, George Morfogen, Mark Anderson Phillips, Athan Sporek and Jill Tanner.
