News Richard Maltby, Jr. Replaces Walter Charles in York Theatre Company's Big Tony Award winning-director and lyricist Richard Maltby, Jr. has joined the cast of The York Theatre Company's staging of his musical Big � the season opener of the Fall 2014 Musicals in Mufti Series � which began performances Oct. 11.

Maltby, Jr. has stepped into the role of MacMillan, replacing , who left the production "due to an unexpected conflict."

The mounting of the musical, which features a book by , lyrics by Maltby, Jr. and music by , marks the New York premiere of the script and score created by the authors for the show’s national tour, including eight new Maltby and Shire songs.

Directed by , with music direction by Eric Svejcar, the cast also features Tony Award nominees and with Elainey Bass, Whitney Brandt, , Liam Forde, Tom Lucca, , Rhyn McLemore, , Julianna Rigoglioso, Jeremy Shinder and Hayden Wall.

"Josh Baskin is just like any other angst-ridden teenager—he can’t wait to grow up," according to press notes. "Too bad you have to get through adolescence first. But when Josh makes a wish to be 'big' at a carnival and wakes up the next morning in the body of a 30-year-old man, he learns how complicated adulthood can be."
