Whether a solo violin or a full orchestra, the classic arts scene in New York is never quiet. Here is just a sampling of some of the classic arts events happening this week:

American Ballet Theatre鈥檚 summer season concludes this week with Prokofiev鈥檚 Romeo And Juliet, running July 18-22 at the Metropolitan Opera House. Based on Shakespeare鈥檚 famous tragedy of star-crossed lovers, ABT鈥檚 production of the ballet is choreographed by Kenneth MacMillan, and features scenic and costume design by Nicholas Georgiadis, as well as lighting design by Thomas R. Skelton. Music from the ballet, such as the famous Dance of the Knights, is often heard in concert halls and in popular culture.

Violinist Iwao Furusawa will perform at Carnegie Hall July 18 with pianist Kenji Kanemasu. Furusawa will perform music of his own composition alongside works by Simonetti, Dinicu, and Monti.

If you think two violins are better than one, Jesse Mills and Mark Peskanov have you covered. They, along with pianist Rieko Aizawa, will perform at Bargemusic July 21. The program will include Bach鈥檚 double violin concerto, selections from Bart贸k鈥檚 duets for two violins, Shostakovich鈥檚 Five Pieces for two violins and piano, and Rebecca Clarke鈥檚 Suite for two violins and piano. July 22 and 23, Bargemusic will present the Atlantic Collective, performing chamber works by Schubert.

Carnegie Hall Citywide presents the Aeolus Quartet in a free concert in Madison Square Park July 19. The quartet will perform works by Bolcom, Price, Dvo艡谩k, and more. Carnegie Hall Citywide will also present multi-hyphenate accordionist, vocalist, composer, and bandleader Gregorio Uribe in Times Square July 21, and, on the same day, Magos Herrera performing with her sextet and chamber orchestra The Knights in Bryant Park.

The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center鈥檚 Summer Evenings concerts conclude July 18, with a concert at Alice Tully Hall of Haydn鈥檚 Trio in E-flat major for Violin, Cello and Piano, Mozart鈥檚 Concerto No. 12 in A major for Piano and String Quintet, and Faur茅鈥檚 Quartet in C minor for Piano, Violin, Viola, and Cello No. 1. Pianist Juho Pohjonen, violinists Stella Chen and Danbi Um, violist Beth Guterman Chu, and cellist Sihao He will perform the program.

Spending the summer upstate? Never fear, the city鈥檚 arts scene can come to you! New York City Ballet comes to the Saratoga Performing Arts Center for a residency this week, running July 18-22. Throughout the week, NYCB will present classic ballets from its repertoire, including Jerome Robbins and Leonard Bernstein鈥檚 Fancy Free, and George Balanchine鈥檚 abridged Swan Lake; as well as more recent works by Justin Peck, Christopher Wheeldon, and more.
