Rothschild & Sons, the Rothschilds spinoff that had its world premiere with the York Theatre Company last fall starring Broadway vet and Glory Crampton, may return to the Off-Broadway theatre.

鈥淚t was very successful,鈥 Harnick said on the Tony Awards red carpet, 鈥渁nd our producer Arnold Mittelman is now in the process of trying to get another production. It鈥檚 not likely that it will be on Broadway, but very possibly Off-Broadway鈥攎aybe again at the York Theatre鈥攁nd I think it will be successful because the new version of it is quite wonderful.鈥

As previously reported by 半岛体育, producer Mittelman said that a London production is the first priority, and if all goes well, he is looking at a New York production in spring/winter of 2017.

Rothschild & Sons features music by , lyrics by Harnick and a book by Sherman Yellen. The show is based on the Tony-nominated The Rothschilds, about a dynasty of German-Jewish financiers, which opened on Broadway in 1970.

Rothschild & Sons, a more intimate, one-act retelling, features several songs not included in the original, with new lyrics by Harnick. Composer Bock passed away in 2010. A story of human rights and triumph, the new work focuses on the relationships between the patriarch of the family, Mayer Rothschild, played by Cuccioli, his wife Gutele, played by Crampton, and their five sons, living as Jews in a German ghetto.

The production played an extended run from October 6-November 8, 2015. Producers haven鈥檛 yet confirmed a return engagement.
