Classic Spring will present veteran actor Simon Callow in Frank McGuinness鈥� new stage adaptation of Oscar Wilde鈥檚 De Profundis next year at the Vaudeville Theatre.

Directed by Mark Rosenblatt, the limited run will be presented for six performances January 3鈥�6, 2018, as part of Classic Spring's year-long celebration of Wilde. Tickets will be priced at a special rate of 拢10鈥撀�35.
De Profundis is Wilde鈥檚 searing and eloquent meditation on his life, an address of love and reproach to his lover Lord Alfred 鈥淏osie鈥� Douglas. 鈥淚mprisoned in Reading Gaol and forbidden from writing works of fiction, Wilde,鈥� according to production notes, 鈥渨as permitted to write鈥攖hough not to send鈥攖he 鈥榣etter鈥� that became DeProfundis 'for medicinal purposes鈥� by the prison governor.鈥�
Callow鈥檚 recent stage credits include Being Shakespeare, The Mystery of Charles Dickens, and Inside Wagner鈥檚 Head. He currently leads the TV series The Rebel. His other screen credits include Four Weddings and a Funeral, Shakespeare in Love, and Angels in America. He is also the author of several books, including Oscar Wilde and His Circle.
McGuinness is an acclaimed playwright, poet, and translator. He has won numerous awards and prizes throughout his career, including a Tony nomination (Someone Who鈥檒l Watch Over Me), an Irish PEN Award, and the French Order of Arts and Letters.
De Profundis will be presented between Dominic Dromgoole鈥檚 A Woman of No Importance, which closes December 30, and Kathy Burke鈥檚 Lady Windermere鈥檚 Fan, which begins previews January 12.
