The Majestic Theatre opened in 1927, the sixth and last theatre built for the Chanin brothers. Designed by Herbert J. Krapp, it remains among the largest of the Broadway theatres.
Since 1988, the Majestic has housed The Phantom of the Opera, which surpassed Cats in 2006 to become the longest-running Broadway show in history.

As part of an effort to create a three-theater complex, the Majestic Theatre was built in 1926-27 by the Chanin brothers, helping to solidify the block between 44th and 45th street as the heart of the theatre district.
Designed by Herbert J. Krapp, the Majestic Theatre opened on March 28, 1927 with Rufus LeMaire鈥檚 Affairs, a musical revue.
