With the news that The Cher Show will open this fall at Broadway's Neil Simon Theatre, plus the recent 50th anniversary celebration of The Carol Burnett Show, it seems like the perfect time to offer a vintage clip of entertainment icons Burnett and Cher performing together.
In the video above the two actors strut their stuff on 鈥淪olid Silver Platform Shoes鈥 during a 1975 broadcast of the Emmy-winning The Carol Burnett Show.
The song premiered in the 1974 Broadway musical The Magic Show, which featured a score by Stephen Schwartz and a book by Bob Randall.
Burnett received a Special Tony Award in 1969 for her Contributions to the Theatre. She was nominated for a Tony for her Once Upon a Mattress performance and again in 1996 for Moon Over Buffalo. With her late daughter Carrie Hamilton, Burnett wrote the 2002 Broadway comedy-drama Hollywood Arms, which was directed by Harold Prince.
Cher made her Broadway debut in 1982 in the role of Sissy in Ed Graczyk鈥檚 Come Back to the 5 & Dime Jimmy Dean, Jimmy Dean, a part she later repeated on film.
