
The Acting Company, which tours the world with productions of original plays and classics, launched in 1972 with , , and a dozen other members of Juilliard’s first Drama School graduating class.
“They were classically trained, superbly talented and had worked together for four years,� Harley said.
More recent alumni include Rainn Wilson, Jesse L. Martin, Harriet Harris, Frances Conroy, Keith David, Jeffrey Wright and Hamish Linklater in addition to 300 others who continue to work in the arts.
The Acting Company has won numerous awards, including a Tony Award for Excellence in Theatre. The company has gone out on 43 tours and has performed for 3.5 million people in 48 states and 10 countries.
In addition to her work on The Acting Company, Harley served as producer for the Broadway productions of Alfred Uhry’s The Robber Bridegroom and The Curse of an Aching Heart starring Faye Dunaway. She also produced John Houseman’s revival of Marc Blitzstein's musical The Cradle Will Rock in New York and at the Old Vic Theatre in London. The search for a successor is "in the works," according to spokesperson Sean Katz.
