Off-Broadway鈥檚 The Barrow Group has announced its 2016-17 season, which will include three productions, readings and events. The slate features a new Henrik Ibsen adaptation, a Mike Leigh play and a work by Pulitzer finalist Lisa Loomer.
The season will launch with a production of Leigh鈥檚 1977 comedy, Abigail鈥檚 Party, presented in association with The Pond Theatre Company and directed by TBG co-artistic director Lee Brock. The London suburbia-set play will star Lily Dorment (The Unrepeatable Moment), Colleen Clinton (A Beautiful Dark), Sarah Street (Shelter) and Nick Hetherington (Our Country鈥檚 Good). Performances will run November 10-December 3, with an official opening night set for November 13.
The second production will be a new adaptation of Ibsen鈥檚 Enemy of the People, written by TBG co-artistic director Seth Barrish and K. Lorrel Manning, with direction by Manning. Performances are set to run March 10-April 1, 2017, with casting to be announced at a later date.
The season will close with Loomer鈥檚 comedy about trying to have a child, Expecting Isabel, directed by Barrish. Performances are scheduled for June 10-July 1.
Throughout the season, TBG will host a variety of events, including the Solo Show Series; a 48-Hour Film Festival in December; a 24-Hour Play Festival in January 2017; F.A.B. Women @ TBG, a playwrights鈥� Sunday reading series; and student showcase productions.
