Prior to Cynthia Nixon鈥檚 big win at the Tony Awards June 11, the performer walked the red carpet, during which time she discussed what makes theatre special.

鈥淭here isn鈥檛 quite anything else like having a live audience and that interaction and having it be different every night,鈥 Nixon said on the red carpet. 鈥淚 feel like we鈥檙e much more sectionalized than we鈥檝e ever been, all with our little screens, and to get 700 people into a theatre and put on a play for them; it鈥檚 an ancient form, and it鈥檚 one that we鈥檙e finding in rare supply these days."

In addition to her win, The Little Foxes took home one other trophy for Best Costume Design of a Play. Nixon shares the roles of both Birdie and Regina with her co-star Laura Linney.
