News Tony Winner Darko Tresnjak Will Direct Opulent Hamlet at Hartford Stage Tony Winner Darko Tresnjak (A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder) will direct Shakespeare's classic drama Hamlet � starring Zach Appelman (War Horse) in the title role � beginning previews Oct. 16 at Hartford Stage (Hartford, CT).

The production has an official opening Oct. 22 and runs through Nov. 16 at Tresnjak's renowned home theatre in Hartford.

Here's how the production is billed, "In Hamlet, a Danish prince returns home to find his father killed, and his mother marrying the murderer. When his father’s ghost rises to demand retribution, Hamlet is put in an impossible situation. In this opulent, Elizabethan staging, Hamlet’s tragic tale of revenge will get the full-on, terrifying � and bloody � treatment. "

In addition to Appelman, the cast includes as Rosencrantz, (The School for Scandal) as Gertrude, () as Polonius, five-time Helen Hayes Award winner Floyd King as Bernardo/Leading Player, Andrew Long as Claudius, Cliff Miller as Guildenstern, Anthony Roach as Laertes, James Seol () as Horatio and Brittany Vicars as Ophelia.

The creative team includes Tresnjak again as set designer, Fabio Toblini as costume designer, Matthew Richards as lighting designer and Jane Shaw as sound designer.
