Three-time Tony winner Patti LuPone and Golden Globe nominee Mia Farrow, who will return to Broadway later this month in Jen Silverman's The Roommate, recently dropped by Late Night With Seth Meyers.
LuPone and Farrow spoke about their brief rehearsal period (it's only three weeks), the start of their friendship many years ago thanks to Stephen Sondheim, and some shocking evenings working on stage. LuPone shared stories about audience interruptions during both the Broadway production of Master Class鈥攕he succeeded Zoe Caldwell as famed opera diva Maria Callas鈥攁nd the subsequent London mounting (the police were called for the latter). Directed by Jack O鈥橞rien, the new one-act comedy The Roommate will begin performances August 29 at the Booth Theatre with an official opening night scheduled for September 12.
In The Roommate, Sharon鈥檚 never had a roommate before鈥攊n fact, there鈥檚 a lot Sharon鈥檚 never done before, but Robyn鈥檚 about to change all that. The play follows the blossoming intimacy between two women from different backgrounds, as they navigate the complexities of identity, morality, and the promise of reinvention.

LuPone won Tonys for her performances in Evita, the 2008 revival of Gypsy, and the recent revival of Company; she won her first Olivier Award for her work in The Cradle Will Rock and Les Mis茅rables, and her second for the 2019 London revival of Company.
Farrow has been seen on Broadway in Love Letters, Getting Away with Murder, and Romantic Comedy.
