Second Stage Theater's world premiere production of D.A. Mindell鈥檚 On the Evolutionary Function of Shame, which is staged at the The Irene Diamond Stage at The Pershing Square Signature Center, officially opened February 26, and the reviews are rolling in. The play began previews February 12.

The work is an exploration of identity, family, and the courage it takes to live authentically. Centering on the relationship between Adam (a transgender man expecting a child) and his twin sister, Eve (a scientist), the work follows Eve as she offers her brother cutting-edge prenatal services, with neither fully grasping the ramifications of her offer.

Directed by Jess McLeod, the production stars Jordan Barbour (The Inheritance), Kayli Carter (I鈥檒l Be Right There), Elizabeth Ramos (On That Day In Amsterdam), Imani Russell (How to Dance in Ohio), Cody Sloan (Seven Deadly Sins), and Ryan Jamaal Swain (Pose).
