McCarter Theatre Center has announced the lineup of productions for its 2025-2026 season of theatre, classical music, and dance.

The theatre season will kick off with the world premiere of I and You: The Musical, running September 13-October 12. With a book by Lauren Gunderson (adapted from her own play) and music and lyrics by Ari Afsar, the new musical follows 17-year-olds Caroline, who's stuck at home with an illness; and Anthony, an earnest overachiever obsessed with Walt Whitman. When the pair pulls an unexpected all-nighter, what starts as a reluctant assignment soon sets both their worlds spinning. McCarter Artistic Director Sarah Rasmussen will direct the co-production with Olney Theatre Center.

Sam Kissajukian's 300 Paintings will follow, running October 29-November 2. In 2021, Kissajukian walked away from stand-up comedy, rented an abandoned cake factory, and spent six months in a creative whirlwind, producing 300 large-scale paintings while unknowingly documenting his own mental state. 300 Paintings takes audiences on a journey through Kissajukian's art, mental health, and creative process.

From January 23-February 15, 2026, Weyni Mengesha will direct Ins Choi's Kim's Convenience, a Soulpepper production in association with Adam Blanshay Productions and American Conservatory Theater. Before it became an award-winning Netflix series, Kim's Convenience was a stage hit. Set at Mr. Kim's corner variety store as billion-dollar projects move into the neighborhood, audiences follow Kim's family as they face an unknown future.

Circus Quixote will follow, running March 4-15. Based on Miguel de Cervantes' Don Quijote of La Mancha and written and directed by Kerry and David Catlin, the production reimagines Cervantes' classic with acrobatics and circus design by Sylvia Hernandez-DiStasi. Circus Quixote is a Lookingglass Theatre Company production, and produced in association with The Actors Gymnasium.

Heidi Armbruster's Mrs. Christie will run May 6-31, with Donya K. Washington directing. The work begins in 1926, when "Queen of Crime" Agatha Christie goes missing. In 2026, Lucy, a spirited American, crashes a Christie festival and finds a clue to the great writer's disappearance 100 years later.

The season will also feature a roster of multidisciplinary performances, including Camille A. Brown's I AM. Click for a full lineup.

鈥淭his season is a celebration of storytelling and artistic collaboration,鈥 Rasmussen said in a statement. 鈥淔rom thrilling new works to acclaimed productions, we鈥檙e inviting audiences to experience theater that entertains, sparks conversation, and brings people together in moments of discovery.
