Two show day??? Guys! We have to get going!
Is that all of my friends on my mug helping me get caffeinated for the day? Yes it is. I made these for everyone in the show for Opening Night.
I promised to walk my roommate鈥檚 dog before heading out for the day. His name is George Seurat, true story. The dog, not my roommate. I don鈥檛 think George Seurat would be a very good roommate.
Enjoy the sun while you can! Walking through the Union Square market on my way to the train. I picked up a snack: almond croissant, my favorite.
It鈥檚 the musical saw man! Guarantee that this day is going to be amazing. Phew.
Last looks with Jennifer Sanchez and then it鈥檚 time to hit the stage for the matinee! (Girl with a Pearl Earring by Johannes Vermeer)
Time to sign in for the first show with my show pal Jenni Barber. (American Gothic by Grant Wood)
I like to check in with Jake Gyllenhaal before the show to make sure he鈥檚 healthy since I鈥檓 his understudy. He tolerates it.
Ashley Park, Jake, and I end up goofing around sometimes.
I like to take a minute on stage before the show to take in the space. We鈥檙e the first show in the newly renovated Hudson Theatre. (Christina鈥檚 World by Andrew Wyeth)
It鈥檚 important to check in with your cast mates when you get to the theatre. This is Brooks Ashmanskas and I saying hello before the matinee. (The Creation of Adam by Michelangelo)
It鈥檚 also important to stretch out before the show and David Turner and I always make sure to take the time to do it. (Danserse au Repos by Edgar D茅gas)
11. At half hour we all gathered to celebrate Jamie Rosenstein鈥檚 birthday!! She鈥檚 making her Broadway debut on this show!
Time to get in costume and make up and spend a little time focusing, just like Maryann Hu here. (Thinking About Death by Frida Kahlo)
Penny Fuller taking a moment to get in character as George鈥檚 mother (Whistler鈥檚 Mother by James McNeill Whistler)
Our prop shelf backstage. We keep very important things here like bags of duck food.
This is my favorite place to sit backstage and watch the orchestra. Our percussionist Kory Grossman has his own little nest of sound making which includes pots and pans, keys, and shells.
Alright, one show down, one to go!
Making a visit to these jokers between shows. Andrew Kober, Max Chernin and Michael McElroy all went to the same high school and now they share a dressing room on Broadway! Isn鈥檛 that crazy?!
Time to facetime my husband Eric Rosen while he鈥檚 taking our dog Diogi for a walk. He just finished directing Constellations at the Kansas City Repertory Theatre, which Jake did on Broadway. Small world!
All the wigs have to get touched up between shows. Here Rachel White, our Assistant Hair Supervisor is working on one of the wigs on the show.
Hair Supervisor Thomas Augustine is in charge of keeping us all looking our best. Here he is giving the adorable Ruthie Ann Miles a trim.
All of the costumes have to be washed or at least ironed between shows as well. Here is Alison Valcarel, one of our fantastic dressers, working on Erin Davie鈥檚 dress.
Now it鈥檚 time for Max Chernin, and all of us, to head out and grab something for dinner. (Self Portrait without bear by Vincent van Gogh_
After dinner I drink a little of my home made Kombucha as a treat, its sour and delicious! I put apple juice, ginger and lemon in it after I ferment it at home.
Laura Irion, is ready at any moment to jump into costume and hit the stage if one of the women she covers is sick. She covers 5 women in the show and is our dance captain!
Ashley Park comes around to everyone in the cast before the show with a bag of 鈥淎ngel鈥 cards. Each night we pick one and it serves as our inspiration for the show. Tonight mine is Clarity. Here we go for the second show!
Just before the top of the second act we all gather on stage to set up in our positions鈥nd have a little time to play around with Ashley Park and Phillip Boykin. (The Singing Butler by Jack Vettriano)
Sometimes there are only a few moments backstage to quickly catch up with your pals. I sure love Erin Davie. (The Kiss (Lovers) by Gustav Klimt)
Having a healthy snack on hand for intermission is always a good idea. David Turner is a super healthy eater. (The Son of Man by Ren茅 Magritte)
Ahhhhhhh! And that鈥檚 it! Two show day with Clay! Thanks for following along with me! Follow me on instagram or twiiter @claybourneelder for more fun! (The Scream by Edvard Munch)
