Seeking a talented and passionate director to lead the creative team of a new musical debut for the New York Theater Festival.

About the show: Burnout Kingdom: A New Wave Musical

In 1984 New York City, punk has met with pop to create a new wave of music. Danni is an aspiring singer who has kicked her co-lead and ex- boyfriend out of her failing band. After an explosive fight on stage, an agent gives them a chance to sign with a major label, with hopes of selling their personal drama. Working together for one last shot, they understand each other and themselves on a deeper level.

Show Dates: June 23rd, 27th, 29th 2025

Stipend Available: $150 per show.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee the artistic direction of the show.

• Collaborate with choreographers, designers, and musical directors to ensure a cohesive and engaging production.

• Work with cast members to bring characters to life, guiding performances with energy, clarity, and inspiration.

• Conduct rehearsals, providing feedback, direction, and motivation to the cast and crew.

• Ensure that the show is on track for successful technical and dress rehearsals.

• Proven experience as a director in musical theater or a similar role.

• Strong knowledge of musical theater, including stagecraft, choreography, and vocal performance.

• Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with a creative team and cast members.

• Passion for the arts and commitment to delivering an exceptional audience experience.
