PREPARATION
Please prepare either two short contrasting songs (approximately 1-minute in length
each), two contrasting monologues (1-minute in length each) or one short song and one
short monologue. Bring music that is legible and clearly marked. An accompanist will be provided. Also, bring your headshot and resume stapled together.

Rehearsals are usually Tues-Fri 4-9pm or 5-10pm, Sat & Sun 12-5pm or 1-6pm with Mondays off.
Four (4) performances per week (Thurs, Fri & Sat nights at 7:30pm and Sundays at 2pm).
We also have occasional weeknight performances, Sat matinee and/or Sunday evening shows too.

SEEKING:
Kenneth: Male-identifying, Black / African Descent, late 30s. Kenneth has lived in a small town his whole life. He is smart and sensitive, with an active imagination. Kenneth has a desire for a life bigger than the one he鈥檚 living, but a fear of the unknown has kept him sheltered. He spends his days working at the local bookstore, and his evenings at happy hour with his only friend, Bert. When Kenneth loses his job, he finds himself forced to confront his own loneliness and move past his comfort zone.
Bert: Male-identifying, Black / African Descent, late 30s鈥�40s. Bert is Kenneth鈥檚 best friend. Solid and steady, Bert has a practical way of looking at the world. But he鈥檚 also sensitive and highly attuned to people鈥檚 needs. Bert鈥檚 warmth and lack of judgment is a comfort to Kenneth. When Kenneth is pushed to try something new, it is Bert who encourages him along the way.
Corrina/Wally鈥檚 Waiter/Bank Customers: Female-identifying, Black / African Descent, 30s鈥�40s.
This multiple-role track includes a variety of waiters and bank customers requiring the ability to switch between different characters on a dime. The track also includes Corrina, at the local tiki bar, a smart and sensitive waitress who befriends Kenneth. She has a sense of humor and marches to the beat of her own drum. Corrina鈥檚 openness and willingness to try new things helps Kenneth as he tries to find his way.
Clay/Sam/Le Pousselet Bartender: Male-identifying, any race, 50s鈥�60s. Sam is no-nonsense owner of the town鈥檚 only bookstore. Sam chain-smokes and isn鈥檛 warm and fuzzy to customers but has a tender side. Sam wants to do right by Kenneth. Clay is a former college football champion and is extra nostalgic about his glory days. A jock with a sensitive side, Clay鈥檚 existential curiosity makes him an unexpected ally to Kenneth.
MISERY

SEEKING:
Annie Wilkes: Female. 40s-50s. A mentally unstable former nurse who has kidnapped Paul. She
claims to be his biggest fan and has nursed him back to health after his nearly fatal car crash. She is average height but bigger and she's very strong. Annie seems to be a kind, tender woman who cares deeply for Paul, even if she does seem slightly off. Manipulative, cunning, and hides a deep set and terrifying malice behind her cheery simple fa莽ade.
Paul Sheldon: Male. 40s-50s. Any ethnicity. Renowned writer is known for the Misery book series. He is probably in good shape or on the skinnier side. He is sarcastic and very smart but can also be arrogant and naive. He thinks he's outwitted Annie but underestimates her irrationality.
Buster: Male. 40s-60s. The sheriff of a nearby town searching for Paul. Warm and friendly.
GOOD NIGHT OSCAR

JACK PAAR 鈥� Bob Sarnoff鈥檚 contemporary, and America鈥檚 smoothest talker. 30s or 40s.
MAX WEINBAUM 鈥� Jack Paar鈥檚 new production assistant. 20s. A young man whose ingratiating
enthusiasm is matched only by his comic ineptitude.
GEORGE GERSHWIN 鈥� Charming and rakish. 30s. He鈥檚 got the tapered physique of an athlete, a
winning grin, and the most celebrated career in American popular music.

Baker鈥檚 Wife: Female, 35 - 45. Determined and bright woman who wishes to be a mother; she leads a simple yet satisfying life and is very low-maintenance yet proactive in her endeavors; Romantic at heart, but materialistic. Vocal range top: F3 - G5.
Baker: Male: 35 鈥� 45. A harried and insecure baker who is simple and loving, yet protective of his family; he wants his wife to be happy and is willing to do anything to ensure her happiness but refuses to let others fight his battles; Warm hearted, determined, yet insecure. Vocal range top: Ab2 - G4.
Cinderella/Granny: Female, 20s 鈥� 30s. Cinderella: Young, earnest maiden who is constantly
mistreated by her stepmother and stepsisters; Earnest, warm-hearted, kind, trying to find her place in the world. A survivor. Excellent singing voice required. Granny: Bitter, vindictive, feisty. Strong humorous role. Vocal range top: G3 鈥� G5.
Little Red Riding Hood/Rapunzel: Female, 20s. Little Red: A spoiled young girl who is strong-willed, quick-witted, fearless, yet youthful and na茂ve. Must mix/belt well. Rapunzel: A loopy-but-lovely maiden who is sheltered by the Witch and terribly lonely; she yearns to experience the world. Soprano. Overall vocal range: Bb3 - A5.
Cinderella鈥檚 Stepmother/Jack鈥檚 Mother: Female, 40s to 60s. Stepmother: mean-spirited,
demanding stepmother of Cinderella. Jack鈥檚 Mother: Browbeating and weary, Jack's protective mother who is independent, bold, and strong-willed. Vocal range: A3 - F#5.
Cinderella鈥檚 Prince/Lucinda/Wolf: Prince: Male, 25 鈥� 40. Vain and gorgeous, he is a disloyal lover who is currently searching for the next new, exciting thing. Lucinda: Cinderella's stepsister who is black of heart; she follows in her mother's footsteps of abusing Cinderella. Wolf: Hungry and insatiable hunter who takes advantage of the weak by misleading and captivating his prey. Vocal range: B2 鈥� F4 (also C4 鈥� Ab5 as Lucinda).
Rapunzel鈥檚 Prince/Florinda/Milky White: Male, 25 鈥� 40. Prince: Just as vain and gorgeous as his brother, he is always chasing the newest, most exiting endeavor. Florinda: Cinderella's stepsister who is black of heart; she follows in her mother's footsteps of abusing Cinderella. Milky White: Sickly white cow. Flexibility and physical movement a requirement. Vocal range: B2 鈥� F4 (also C4 鈥� Ab5 as Florinda).
Jack/Steward: Male, 20s. Jack: The feckless Giant killer who is 'almost a man'; he is adventurous, naive, energetic, and bright-eyed; Impulsive and eager to please. Steward: Surly, bureaucratic. Vocal range: B2 - G4.

HEIDI HANSEN: (Female Identifying, 40s- 50s) Evan鈥檚 mother, she loves her son fiercely but isn鈥檛 always able to 鈥渉elp鈥� him and fears they have begun to grow apart. She is prepared to do anything to support her son and repair the damage. Pop Alto F#3-Eb5. Has a healthy, clear and powerful mix/belt.
ZOE MURPHY: (Female Identifying, 18+ to play 16) Sensitive and sophisticated, with a sharp sense of humor, Zoe could care less about the status games and popularity rites of high school. She feels a terrible ambivalence over her brother鈥檚 death. Pop Soprano with strong mix/belt: F3-E5.
CONNOR MURPHY: (Male Identifying, 18+ to play 17) An angry, disaffected loner, Connor has been a troubled kid for as long as anyone can remember. He is approached with caution by his peers and is a mystery to his parents. Pop Bari/Tenor G2-G4.
CYNTHIA MURPHY: (Female Identifying, 40s- 50s) Connor and Zoe鈥檚 mother. She appears to be the perfect mother, kind, nurturing, available, easy to talk to, but her children may feel otherwise. Pop Soprano with strong mix/belt: F#3-E5.
LARRY MURPHY: (Male Identifying, 40s) Connor and Zoe鈥檚 father. Though often tense and taciturn, he shows a different face to the world, representing for Evan the dad he always wished for: strong, confident, and more than anything, reliable, someone to be counted on. Pop Bari/Tenor F#2-G4.
JARED KLEINMAN: (Male Identifying, 18+ to play 17) Droll and sarcastic, he covers his own insecurities with a well-practiced swagger and a know-it-all arrogance. Pop Tenor A2-B4.
